These are the stories I hear on repeat when a business owner comes to me and says their business isn’t growing:
“Ugh, there are so many newbies in town. They’re undercutting the industry and pushing me out”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“The Instagram Algorithm is ruining my business.”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“People are too cheap in this town.”
While all of these things are frustrating, there are still ways to grow in saturated markets. Even without Instagram. When I take a quick look at their businesses, I see that the real problem is they’re not adapting. What once worked won’t always work.
If your business isn’t growing, sometimes all you need is to step out of your comfort zone.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1. Keep adapting! Change things up.⠀
It’s time to change some things up. The industry you are in – whether it be photography, beauty, health, etc – is ever-changing. What can you add to make your experience better? Is there a new class you can take to perfect a new skill? What about a way you can shift your marketing efforts.
No one is born with knowledge. I think sometimes we forget that. Don’t ever be afraid to make a call to ask a question… Set up the mentor session… Take the class. Don’t let fear of feeling stupid be the reason you’re stuck.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2. Put your marketing efforts into more than one basket.⠀⠀⠀⠀
When I started this business, Facebook pages were the thing. That was before the Facebook algorithm changed. But like all social media platforms, reach changes. My engagement plummeted. And my business didn’t die because I diversified my marketing efforts across several platforms and methods – both in person and online. Don’t let the algorithm ruin your business.

3. Do the work. Consistently. (Like daily.)
It’s a marathon, not a sprint. Now 9 years later, we are still doing the little things every single day to keep our business growing. It’s important to stay consistent.
