135. Email Lists With Katy Gonzalez
I’m so excited! Today, we have a special guest that I’m getting to know for the first time as well… she reached out to me, and I loved the information that she shared with me. I’m really excited to bring her on! Katy is a speaker and coach who lives in New York! She helps course creators build email lists! You guys know how important email lists are, and we’ve talked about them before, but today we’re going to talk more about how to grow them and how to make them work for you!
A couple months ago, Katy was trying to build a business and she was feeling so stuck – she says she felt like a failure and like she didn’t have a basis or structure. She realized, that’s what the enemy tries to tell you! It all changed one day when she went to an event and someone said, “If you don’t have an email list, you don’t have a business.” That’s the day that everything started for her. This is how you start – with a list!
Katy’s only been in business for about a year and has been so successful already! I love seeing her growth!
Katy teaches that you have to start with a problem to solve. I do the same. In all my coaching programs, I start with a worksheet that identifies their pain point. We identify what their problem is, and we work on solving it. You can’t really sell anything until you know what the problem is.
Katy also hosts virtual events like masterclasses, summits, podcasts, etc. She’s hosted several summits! It’s a great way to build you email list – you gather a ton of like-minded people together, promote this event, build your email list, and learn! When Katy hosts her summits, she finds authors on certain a problem that she’s trying to solve for her audience!
What Katy isn’t explicitly saying is also important: she isn’t letting limiting beliefs stop her from finding success in her business! She’s pushing through those barriers, doing these scary things, and building an incredible business. She beliefs that, through Jesus, we can do ANYTHING – I could not agree more! Anyone can do this!
I asked Katy, “Now that you have these emails from the virtual events that you’ve hosted, what do you do with them?” You ask them what they want! Then, you give them what they want. You have such a high success rate because you’re asking these people what they want, you’re solving a problem for them, and you’re serving them!
In order to get people on your list, you also have to have an opt in! Whether you’re hosting virtual events, have a full website, or not… you must have a way to gather your customers’ information! When I first started my business, everyone pushed the importance of websites! Now, it doesn’t really matter if you have a full website of not! All you need to do is have a way to gather those emails onto a list so you can solve their problems, serve them, and market to them! This is how you create leads.
Use the resources you have, and they will grow as your business grows!
